Fire safety arrangements record. A pro-forma for writing down who does what on fire safety — the responsible person, the competent persons assisting, the wardens, and the arrangements for testing, training and review.

FireOptix holds the arrangements, the assessments and the records that come out of them, and shows you what is overdue. Deciding who is competent to be appointed in the first place is a judgement about people, and no platform makes it for you.

What is on the sheet

  • Who the responsible person is for the premises, and on what basis
  • Competent persons appointed to assist, and what each has been appointed to do
  • Named fire wardens or marshals, their areas and their deputies
  • The arrangements for testing, servicing, training and drills, with the owner of each named rather than the frequency prescribed
  • How findings and defects are raised, held and closed out
  • A review and re-issue block, so a superseded version is visibly superseded

Why this record matters

Fire safety duties sit with the responsible person, and in a building of any size they are carried out by other people. The Order expects those arrangements to exist; what it does not do is write them down for you. This is the sheet that records who holds what, which is the first thing anybody asks after an incident and the thing nobody can produce.

It is deliberately about allocation rather than frequency. The intervals for testing and servicing come from the systems themselves, the standards they were installed to and the premises' own risk assessment — so this records who owns each of those jobs and leaves the schedule where it is set.

Delegation is the point and also the trap. Appointing a competent person to assist does not move the duty; it discharges part of the work. A record that reads as though responsibility has been handed over is worse than no record, so the sheet asks what each person has been appointed to do rather than what they are responsible for.
