Golden thread software for fire safety records that hold up under audit.
Assessment, check, servicing and remedial evidence held against the building it covers — current, attributable and reportable across the estate without anything being re-keyed on the day.
A golden thread is a property of your records, not a document you produce
The Building Safety Act introduced the golden thread: building safety information that is accurate, current, accessible and held in a way that shows how it got there. The phrase is often read as a deliverable — something you assemble before an inspection. It is not. It is a description of how your records behave the rest of the time.
Which is why the assembled version fails. Evidence gathered into a folder the week before an audit answers the question asked, and nothing about the eleven months before it. The thread is the continuity, and continuity cannot be produced retrospectively.
Reporting built from records that already exist
Because every assessment, check, service and defect is held against the building it belongs to, the compliance position is derived rather than compiled. Assessment, check and remedial status rolls up across every building, and filtering by building, finding type or priority takes seconds.
Nothing is re-keyed for the report. It is built from what staff and contractors already entered at the time they did the work, which is the only version of the record that means anything — a report typed up afterwards evidences the typing, not the work.
Compliance Reporting
What is outstanding, across the portfolio.
- Assessment, check and remedial status rolled up across every building
- Filter by building, finding type or priority in seconds
- Built from the records staff already enter — nothing re-keyed
What this is not
This distinction matters more than most. FireOptix keeps fire safety records in a way consistent with golden thread principles; it is not a Building Safety Act gateway or building-control submission tool, and it does not on its own make a higher-risk building compliant with the Act's duties. Buildings in scope of the Act have information requirements broader than fire safety, including design and construction information this platform does not hold.
Common questions
- Does this make us compliant with the Building Safety Act?
- No single product does. FireOptix holds fire safety records in a way consistent with golden thread principles, but the Act's duties for higher-risk buildings extend well beyond fire safety records — including design and construction information the platform does not hold.
- Can we produce evidence for a fire service audit?
- Yes. Status rolls up across every building and filters by building, finding type or priority, built from records entered at the time the work was done rather than compiled afterwards.
- Do we need this if we only manage low-rise buildings?
- The golden thread duties apply to higher-risk buildings, but record-keeping expectations under the Fire Safety Order apply regardless of height. The reporting is useful to any responsible person who has to evidence what was done and when.

Defects & remedial actions
Defects raised from the assessment, door check or inspection that found them, assigned by priority, and closed out with evidence held against the original finding.
